This finely detailed Mid-Century charm is crafted in 14 karat gold and modeled after the caryatids of the Erechtheion on the Athenian Acropolis. Tested for 14 karat gold purity, it depicts a row of standing female figures supporting an architectural entablature, rendered with exceptional dimensionality for its scale.
Cultural motifs drawn from classical antiquity were popular in postwar jewelry, reflecting a renewed appreciation for travel and art history during the 1950s and 1960s. Charms like this one were often sold as souvenirs in Greece and Italy, celebrating the revival of ancient forms through modern craftsmanship.
