A striking pair of vintage sapphire earrings showcasing 90 French cut sapphires, approximately 13.95 carats in total, invisibly set in curved panels of polished 18k yellow gold. The seamless surface of deep royal blue sapphires exemplifies the technical mastery behind invisible setting, a complex technique that conceals metalwork beneath the stones for a continuous field of color.
Revived in the 1980s by leading European maisons, this setting style reinterpreted the geometric precision of Art Deco design with the bold, opulent proportions favored in late 20th-century jewelry. These earrings capture that era’s refined glamour through their architectural form and luminous craftsmanship. Tested 18k gold, circa 1980s.
