A perfectly demure and timeless diamond ring, this late Art Deco era piece, circa 1935, almost certainly started its life as an engagement ring but is versatile enough to be worn as either a promise of commitment or an everyday staple. One beautifully bright old European cut diamond, graded (mounting permitting) as an approximate G-H color, SI1-SI2 clarity, is nestled within a square setting. The head is flanked by six channel set single cut diamonds, that measure approximately 0.06 carat total weight, accented with millgrain detailing and a geometric taper. The piece is crafted in platinum with a "10% iridium" hallmark, indicating that the alloy is 10% iridium and 90% platinum. Iridium is a hard metal in the platinum family, while too brittle to be used alone for jewelry, it was often added to platinum to strengthen the metal and is a very common alloy used in Art Deco jewelry.
