A finely balanced Art Deco bar pin set with square cut natural sapphires totaling approximately 3.75 carats, arranged in alternating segments with old European cut diamonds totaling approximately 1.20 carats, I–J color and SI clarity. The sapphires are richly saturated, their deep blue tone sharpened by the crisp geometry of the cuts and the linearity of the design. Set in platinum with an 18 karat gold brooch fitting, circa 1930.
The composition reflects the restrained precision of the period, where contrast and repetition take precedence over ornament. Bands of color and light move cleanly across the surface, creating a rhythm that feels architectural rather than decorative. The use of platinum allows for a fine, almost minimal setting, giving the stones a continuous, uninterrupted presence across the length of the pin.
The brooch measures 9.4cm long and 0.5cm at the widest point.
