One of the Philadelphia's finest jewelers, with a history dating back to 1839, J.E. Caldwell was known for their use of fine quality diamonds and gemstones. Originally a silversmith, James Emmott Caldwell supplied wealthy Philadelphians with the finest of European objects and silver. The firm began producing high jewelry in 1868 and continued to flourish through the early and mid 20th century, until being bought out by Birks in the 1950s. Their Art Nouveau and Art Deco pieces are highly desirable to collectors and this bracelet is a fine example of the impeccable craftsmanship and high quality materials that they were known for.
Delicate platinum millgrain accents 42 old European cut diamonds with a total approximate weight of 4 carats, graded G-H color, VS-SI clarity. The piece is crafted entirely in platinum, circa 1930, signed "J.E.C. & Co.", and measures 7 1/8 inches in length.
Please note that all pieces offered are genuine antique and vintage and have been left in their original, unaltered condition to preserve their historical integrity. While each item is carefully inspected prior to sale, signs of age and wear are to be expected and are embraced as part of the piece’s character. Antique jewelry should always be worn with care and consideration to ensure its longevity.
