Two glistening old European cut diamonds take on the symbolism of the well-loved Toi et Moi motif: French for "you and me". This romantic ring style has an extensive history in the jewelry world. Napoleon famously gave Josephine a sapphire and diamond two stone ring, and Jackie Kennedy received a diamond and emerald one from JFK. This piece, styled as a bypass, features all old cut diamonds set in silver, commonly used in the 19th century, that has taken on a beautiful 100+ year old patina.
The two center stones measure approximately 0.20 carat, J-K color, I clarity, and 0.15 carat, K-L color, SI clarity. Accented by six smaller old European cut diamonds, with a total weight go 0.15 carat, the stones are near-colorless. The piece is constructed of 14 karat gold and has evidence of a maker's mark. Dated to be late 19th century, circa 1890.
